The Christmas Card Marathon Has Begun

I was offered the opportunity to sell my cards at our largest Christmas fair in the very heart of our country - Old Riga Dome square. Well I wouldn't be selling them myself behind the counter, but I do need to make a lot of Christmas cards to hand over to a willing sales person :)
I have horded so many Christmas greeting card pictures on my Pinterest board, that I just can't figure which one of my many inspired projects to make first. Well I chose this card.
I suppose it would look quite simple to make if one would have a lovely snowflake embossing folder and dies, but I must admit that I have neither. What I do have is my trusty old SDSilhouette and it is just a miracle :)
I die cut lots of snowflake shapes and created my own embossing folder similar of the one I show in this post.
Next thing I did was to clear emboss the raised areas of my newly embossed background and then ink everything using broken china Distress ink.
Well I hope you like it and I'm off to make about hundred more... :)

Beauty Of Blue And Brown

I have told this before and probably will some more times again - I just adore brown and blue. So I was so excited when I laid my hands on BoBunny Snowfall collection (Thank you Eila so much), because this collection consists mainly from browns and blues.
I just layered several patterned papers on top of each other and fussy cut snowflakes from one of the patterned papers. Well that is - not the one on very top. That one was cut using my Silhouette, inked with Old Paper distress ink and then glittered with Martha Stewart glitter.

I like this card so much!

Retro Fall Flowers

Oh that Blogger... rrr.... I had thought that I had planned this post to publish automatically some days ago and now I saw that that hadn't happened...
Well nothing to worry about - I'm publishing it now.
This is a card I made while playing with my new Sizzix Brenda Walton dies. They are so wonderful that I had to start creating something right away. I've combined two sets of Sizzlit dies - Holiday Greenery and Poinsettia Swirls. They are both winter themed sets, but I've turned them into whimsical retro flowers.
Look how well they all go together. I have also added that absolutely amazing decorative element under my flowers. It's from this Sizzix Thinlits die set.

I have inked all flowers and leaves with Distress ink and given them all some shape using ball stylus. I especially like those leaves with zipper teeth like edges at the side of my composition. And I also like how the red berries in the center look - quite real to my look.

Starting The Season Of Joymaking

Look what has arrived at my home to take up a permanent residence at my crafty tool assortment - TH new Framelits set of snowman blueprint stamp and dies. I was so excited about this particular set (well I actually got lots of new staff) that it was the very first one I just had to put to good use :)
I used my ProMarkers to color this cutie. To have a more watercoloring look, I used watercolor paper for stamping the snowman. I was most glad of the snowy background I created - light blue with different shades of slightly darker blue dots and some white ones as well - I used my white GellyRoll pen to make those. Too bad you can't see it better in this pic...
I hope that you can see all those wonderful layers that you can create using this amazing set. And I haven't even used all of the layers available from the dies in this set.
Snowflakes are made from three different papers - including card from chocolate box and glittered designer paper.

I will enter this card into these challenges:

Glitter All Over My Face :)

I was hooked with this month's Tim Holtz's tag. I suppose its all about the glitter :) And that is exactly how I got incredibly embarrassed - I didn't check my face before going to take out our trash and then I wondered why my neighbors were looking at me strangely - it turned out that all my face was covered with glitter - how wonderful!
I started by applying rice paper on cardstock - I actually added some more wrinkles and then used a bryer to smooth everything out again.
As I still don't have Tim's acrylic paints (and mine do not allow to apply ink over them) I used watercolors to paint my background.
And then I stamped my own script stamp using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
As we don't have Halloween, I went for the simple greeting card with bird, cage and flourish. And what an irony - just this morning I received Tim's Ornate Frame and lots of other wonderful dies.
My greeting says "Very Sweet Greeting". And I made the bird look like tomtit, because that's the bird, that is knocking at our windows at this time of the year.
I used ProMarkers to color that ribbon - it is a weird one - little rubbery, but still looks nice.
