Another Graduation

The first school for a child I think stays in his memories as most precious one. So it is for me. Even thou I went to this school - Uzvara's Secondary School, for just two years, I have always held it in my heart. So I am happy that my daughter is now attending this school and I get to involve in everyday life of this school.
So when I had to make a graduation card for my husbands godson, I wanted to make something special!
I went out one early morning and took a photo of our school and turned it into a 3D image.
As this card was for a boy, I added lots of manly stuff and colors, like this crinkled ribbon held together with a nail brad.

The sentiment on this card says Congratulations and it sits on a folded banner.
I have played a lot with TH Distress crackle paints and distress inks to create sky and also a lot of texture on my sentiment and banner underneath it.

I was very proud of this card - because it means so much to me. This school isn't the one I hold in the highest esteem and am grateful for, but it is one of the dearest to me.

Decoupage With Pearls And Roses

I have kept all my sewing needles and spools of thread and some other tidbits for sewing in the same candy tin box for about 15 years now. Somehow I never got decorate it, so finally, after 15 years I did it! I finally got a nice looking box for my sewing tools.

I think I wen a little overboard, but I like it. I have included 3D decoupage on my roses and done some heavily shading using pink.

I also couldn't go without adding some pearls and splatters of various paint.
I like how my most oldest items slowly - but persistently, turns into something beautiful and starts to bring my craftroom together.

Wedding Guest Book

Lately I am working on lots of different wedding guest books. And I also caught some nasty cold - most likely that there were too much AC's around me, because this summer until recently has been very, very hot here in Latvia - not that I'm complaining. Thus there have been so little post recently, but I hope to remedy that.

I started by making a simple design - white paper covered front with a single lace wrapped around it. And I learned how to bound my book using ribbon - I love how it crisscrosses on the side.
I have included some words of gratitude in the first page as well with a place for a couples photo.
As this is just an A5 sized book, there are just a few basic questions included on each page - like your name, how do you know the newlyweds, your advice and best wishes and what will you remember most about this day. There are also initials of newlyweds and their full names and wedding date at the bottom of each page.
On the last page there is just: With Love and the names of newlyweds.

Quite simple looking but I think that also elegant and a great way to remember your wedding - I just wish that I would have thought about this when I got married...
Hope you like it!

Midsummer Festival For The Girls

Second biggest celebration in our country after Christmas is Midsummer Festival or we call it Līgo and Jāņi. On the first day of this festival/celebration women named Līga's have a name day. As in the company of my friends that I was celebrating this event together, there were two girls named Līga, I made these flowery cards.
Symbolic/traditional flowers of this celebration are bluebottles or cornflowers and daisies. Also oak leaves are mainly used and a lot of importance is in the use of fern.
I used lots of punches to create my flowers. I especially like the blue color of my cornflowers - they add such vibrant accent to my cluster of flowers.
The fern and leaves were die cut using my lovely SD Silhouette. After cutting I inked them using various Distress inks.
Main card shape was cut using Spellbinders Grand Labels One die. I just love how this die can be complemented with Sizzix Bracket Insert die. The centers of my daisies were filled with yellow liquid pearls.
To me, this card really shows the spirit, meaning and traditions of our Ligo festival.

It's time to announce the winner of my giveaway.  I'm happy that my followers now are over 300 - I do hope that it's because I have something interesting to offer here in crafty blogland and not only because of the giveaway.
I used to pick the lucky one and the number is #5.

I think that blogger is acting pretty weird on my commenting sector - it shows me comments in weird order - not by date or somethings... But nevertheless, I counted from the top and the #5 is...
