Some Wonderful News!

This has been a hard time for me to shut up and don't spill my exciting news, but today is the day, when I can brag, that I've become a DT member of jet another fabulous challenge blog. This time it's Sketches: Creatively Yours, where I will be a card design team member.
There are so many creative ladies on board, that you simply must go check them out! Card sketches will be once a month and my first card thus will be seen in the middle of March.

Today I will hopefully finish editing my video tutorial on decoupaged bag, so come back tomorrow and take a look. I bet I will need some constructional criticism and maybe an encouragement to make some other videos as well, cause this one I don't think will be among my most favorite things I've made :)

Well, have fun looking around,

My Blog Candy Winner!!!

It has been such an incredible month! I was going for my 50th follower but turned out to be 214! This is simply amazing. I couldn't thank you all enough for your encouraging comments and other surprises some of you have awarded me with :)
I am truly sorry if I haven't been following you back or haven't commented on your blog, but I have visited them all, just haven't had time to do this much commenting...

As there were so many comments and some of you commented even several times, I decided to pick the winner from my followers widget at this exact moment and... well it turned out, that I had to use random.org three times to get to the lucky winner, because first two times I picked numbers
131 (Kathlene) and 49 (Starla B) but both these ladies haven't commented on my Candy post, so I had to draw another time and this time it was...
and #76 on my follower list is my fellow Latvian Anda from Lietumslāšu simfonija. So little bit in Latvian: lūdzu sazinies ar mani, lai varam sarunāt, kā nodošu Tev sav dāvaniņu. Mani var sameklētr pa e-pastu livaly@gmail.com vai telefonu 29497461.

And once more - huge thank you to all who have become my followers and left me such wonderful comments. I hope to do something like this again, as now I know how much fun this can be. Most probably I will do this again towards May - for my birthday this time :)

Have fun and take care,

New Swatch Book

I had stared to make similar swatch book some time ago, but I have misplaced it, so I decided to make a new one.
Covers of my "book" are made from transparent plastic that used to be packaging of embossing folders. Front cover is stamped with StazOn ink. I cut phrase "Color swatches" with my Silhouette and adhered it on top.
First I have swatches of my ColorWashes. Each separate sheet is sprayed with color then I have added some inking and the name of color is handwritten on punched small label.
And this is my pride and joy - all Distress inks (except for the Halloween special editions). I swiped ink pad directly on paper along the straight edge and then inked the rest of the page to show the differences of color when it is being used directly on paper and when inked.

I hope to add swatches of my alcohol inks and maybe even smaller swatches of Liquid Pearls and Stickles.

Wishing you a colorful day,

Cure For The Winter Blues Challenge

This is just a card I wanted to do a bit of experimenting. Experimenting because I do not like these colors, but as the Moxie Fab challenge is just about these colors and patterns I gave it a go. Couldn't say that this changed a bit about my attitude towards these colors :(
I stamped two flourish corner with lighter blue and cut them out. Then I inked card panel with darker blue and stamped sentiment saying "Heartfelt Wishes" diagonally in the middle. Place my corners using thick foam pads and applied blue liquid pearls on all small dots.
This card reminds me of porcelain tableware with those blue line drawings - I like to look at them but would never have them in my home...

Hope that winter blues haven't reached you,

From All My Heart - Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge #96 - Sketch

This is Thursday and we have a sketch for you at Digi Doodle Shop challenges.
For this card, I chose Wild Rose image from Flowers & Fruits & Trees category over at DDS. It is such a lovely image, that I couldn't resist to use the same flowers for the circle embellishments as well.
I decided to apply liquid pearls to the pink dotted panel to give it some depth and it really brought out that side of the card.
Here's the sketch:
Nice and easy, so hope you like it :)

Crafted Stork

My daughter Aleksa is having a presentation about storks in her kindergarten. Each child had to craft a stork and hand in a fact sheet, fairy tail or other stories about storks. As usual I wen on-line to browse for inspiration. My first thought was to make a poly clay or felt stork, but then I saw these amazing storks from Something Created Everyday and decided to make something similar.
I found a nice photo of stork and cut it out in PhotoShop. Then I added grass and mirrored images. I also cut out wings and printed everything out. Then I cut out my stork in grass and wings - adding little flops for wings and some BIG flops under the grass.
Glued tops of storks together and folded grass flops to back and glued them together forming a triangle for base.
Folded wing flops and attached to both sides of my stork. At first I thought that I will make some concertina folds so that my wings would stay open, like those honeysuckles in the original image, but they somehow stayed in pretty shape just the same, so I didn't have to add anything!
And here's our fact sheet. In truth I found out some amazing things about storks for myself. I gathered bunch of stork clip-arts and made a border in PS.
I just had to include the photo of one of our money models featuring "stork making a nest". I must say that our national bank makes such beautiful money. Originally one lat coin has a salmon on it and two lat coin has cow, but they also makes these celebratory one lat coins and these features heart, national ring Namejs, stork, snowman and many other beauties! Lots of people tend to collect them - me occasionally as well. This is the reason why we don't want to change our money to euros, but that would be so convenient...

Stork in our country is also called "The blessed bird", so I wish you a ll many blessings,

Apron A La Donna Downey Style

Some of you might have noticed how much I admire Donna Downey and all her works. For some time now I have wanted to make an apron inspired by her own amazing aprons. Well - I finally did it. All from scratch - sewed my own apron and then colored and decorated it.
My main decors consist of these three organza flowers. In real life that orange is not so intense and those blooms go more together with my background... I used lots of brads and metal filigree butterfly.
Eeven the text here is taken from Donna's apron but changed just a bit, because it says: "I believe, that I can color the world in the brilliant colors of my dreams". All lining was done with Marabu brown textile marker.
And finally - ruffles, lace and roses! How cute they go all together. I must admit that this part of my apron I like the most.
Actually I wanted to finish this apron so badly, because I have decided to make a video tutorial on decoupaged bag. You all have been asking me so much of how I did my decoupaged wallet, that I decided to make a tutorial for a matching bag :) And well I need a good looking apron to stand before my camera, don't I?

Hope you like it and I won't stain it too badly... actually this one can be hand washed, as I used Ranger ColorWash spray inks that can be heat set and then washed. also my flowers are from fabric and brads can withstand hand wash as well.

Enjoy the beauty around you,

I'll Send You My Heart

Unfortunately I was too late to post this card in Color Me Creative Copic/alcohol Markers group challenge, but I did get an inspiration from their challenge inspirational image, where there was an envelope and hearts flying out of it. So I punched a 5'' square with Martha Stewart punches and using her own score board made this lovely envelope. Then I die cut bunch of scalloped hearts in different sizes with my Silhouette and inked them with differed Distress inks.
After very long time, I have used a Tilda stamp on my card. I do love Magnolia stamps a lot, but somehow I always turn up using different digis for my colored images.
I used three layers of background papers, the very top one being designed by me.All three layers has distressed edges. I stitched papers together using my sewing machine.
And all I did in the end was to add clusters of paper flowers and leaves - also a thing I realized I hadn't done for some time now.
I will enter this card in following challenges (too bad I didn't manage to post this card last week):
Passion For Promarkers - distressing;
Stempeltraume - pink;
2 sisters challenges - stitching;
Stamp, Scrap & Doodle - more than two layers.

Hope my heart will find all of yours and give a friendly hug :)

Did Some Sweetie Drawings

I hadn't participated in Digital Drawing Challenge for some quite long time now, but somehow today it just felt like digging out my pens and pencils to draw few entries for this times "Critter Comedy or Crazy Characters" theme. I went looking for inspiration and found three wonderful images to be inspired from, but... Well the third one was with this cute little kitten, but I found out that fur is just not the thing for me.
This is Pete The Speedy. It makes me smile a bit!
And this is Annie The Ellie! Don't know why but this elephant looks like a girl to me - must add a bow when making a card :) She is very cute - think that she will be on my next card.

Hope you like my little critters :)

Love, Love, Love...

A very, very fast layout! And inspired only by my designed love ribbon charm die cuts. Took the first love themed patterned paper that I spotted in paper box and a strip of white scrap paper from which I had previously die cutted scalloped circle.
I had also this previously embossed grungeboard heart laying on my table. I had painted it with red acrylic paint, then embossed it with TH damask folder, inked with Adirondac SnowCap ink and sanded and distressed edges.
I added two playing cards with king and queen as we both love poker. And I thought that this little key hole goes quite nicely with the heart and key theme. It has four small black brads and black paper beneath it to show through.
And those diecuts... I had an inspiration to make a continuous ribbon with keys, locks, hearts and love words. They turned out so nicely. For a test I die cut them from white card and then just sprayed with ColorWash.
These pictures were taken in January as we had a family photoshoot. This is a nice way to scrap all quite similar photos without loosing any of them :)
So have a lovely day,

Just Me

I hadn't followed Once Upon A Sketch challenges for quite a long time now, but this week I thought it's time to make a layout with their lovely sketch. And I also wanted to use my own cameo and frame diecuts I designed this week to make that lovely light blue background.
Before this layout, I had made just one more with myself. I suppose that has something to do with how I don't like any of my pics :)
As UOAS journalling criteria is love, here is what my journalling says: "I have so much love to give to others. And besides I have many to give this love to, but often I forget that one must love himself as well. Hopefully it will soon change."
Title undoubtedly is cut with my Silhouette and as you probably guessed, it says "Just Me". I have embellished my page with flowers made by embossing napkin decoupaged on cardstock and some paper flowers.

Here's the sketch:
As a surprise to myself, I actually like this layout, especially the background.
Hope you all love yourselves and the ones closer to you,

Valentines Day Surprise Candy

Keep On Rollin' - Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge #94 - One For The Boys

When men are in discussion cars are the first thing that comes in my mind. And as this is Thursday, Digi Doodle Shop challenge is having their latest weekly challenge and this time with projects for boys/men!
I don't know why but all cards I've made with cars have always been vintage style and so this is no exception.
I have chosen this lovely Old Truck 2 image from DDS antiques category. It is shaded only with Distress inks and then some highlights added with silver and white GellyRoll pens. To make this image a bit more to stand out, I embossed it with clear embossing powder.
I suppose I can say, that I have a vintage embellishment addiction. This is why I have various brads, photo corners and name plates - so handy when it comes to male and vintage makes!
I also like to use TH embossing folder for this kind of cards and kraft card as well. For even more details I added natural twine and key and keyhole brads.

If my hubby won't notice this card being published here, I will present him this on his birthday in 20th February :)
So happy birthday hun!
